Money sucks. I hate the fact that we need it to live. I hate that there are always more hands reaching toward you to take your money than actual money in your own hands. I've been dealing with a lot of frustration the past several days because our funds are low and it causes me a lot of stress. Some days I walk around the apartment looking for something I can sell or return to Wal-Mart just to give us some extra money. We're not anywhere close to living on the street, but when I look at the bank account and see that we're not doing so hot, I go into survivor mode or something. Derek and I had what my parents would call a "discussion" the other night and have come to the conclusion that I need to get a part-time job if we're going to save money to move in December. With the way our "moving fund" looks right now, we can't even afford a moving truck...pretty sad. Although I was really hoping to not work this semester, as it is my last semester and I really want to concentrate on school only, I have come to the conclusion that its something that has to be done. I'm willing to work, I was just hoping I wouldn't have to. Sometimes I find myself looking toward the ceiling (since its way too hot to go outside and look toward the sky) and asking God to just plop a big sum of money in our laps...and then this saying comes into my head: God helps those who help themselves. Not sure if that's in the Bible, but its pretty good advice I'd say. As great as it would be, I don't think God is just going to let us sit on our butts and send us money through the mail... if we're going to get to Ohio, I need to do my part to get us there!
I still hate money, though.
Speaking of money, I got this bit of political information in an email today and found it very interesting and thought I should share it:
A president's pension currently is $191,300 per year,
until he is 80 years old.
Assuming the next president lives to age 80,
Sen. McCain would receive ZERO pension as he would reach 80
at the end of two terms as president. Sen. Obama would be
retired for 26 years after two terms and would receive
$4,973,800 in pension.
Therefore it would certainly make economic sense
to elect McCain in November.
Agreed, for that reason and many more!
